The Brickworks Gallery & Creative Studios now forms part of Jacob Cartwright’s evolving studio practice, alongside his long-standing base in Pietrasanta, Italy and his creative studios in Correns, Provence.
Working between these locations allows the practice to move fluidly between exhibition, production, research and large-scale fabrication. Each studio environment offers a different relationship to material, landscape and process.
Pietrasanta — Tuscany, Italy
At Tre Luci Studios in Pietrasanta, Jacob works within one of the world’s historic sculptural centres, collaborating with local marble studios, foundries and artisans to realise works in stone, bronze, steel and mixed media. Much of the large-scale sculptural development and fabrication takes place here.
Brickworks Gallery & Creative Studios — Australia
Through The Brickworks Gallery & Creative Studios, Jacob is now also connected to an Australian studio and exhibition context focused on contemporary art, creative exchange and public engagement. The Brickworks provides an active platform for exhibitions, dialogue and the continued development of new work within Australia.
Correns — Provence, France
In the village of Correns, Provence — France’s first certified organic village — Jacob also works from a series of creative studios and exhibition spaces developed within restored historic buildings.
The Provence studios bring together sculpture, drawing, sound, research and installation development within a quieter rural setting shaped by landscape, architecture and long-form creative reflection.
Together, these studios form an interconnected practice spanning Australia, Italy and France — allowing works to evolve across different cultural, architectural and material environments.
